These are from Tuesday night's circuit race. I'm second wheel. I like that you can see the head-on shot and the side shot a few seconds apart. The pavement change is in both shots, so you get an idea of how things are at the time.
I took 3rd. The guy behind me took 2nd, and the guy behind him took 1st. The guy in the red on the outside about 10 wheels back got 4th. This is a few seconds before the rider at the front got swarmed.
The photos are from Bicycle Racing Pictures facebook page.

That's a lot of grass. Maybe try a cyclocross bike next time?

Yeah, it's on a closed section of airstrip at a National Recreational Area, so very light maintenance. On the backside, there is some overgrowth that reaches out over the pavement. You should be thinking low shrubs, possibly with prickers, or wild roses. One guy, apparently, got muscled into that. I heard the sound of branches and a yell behind me. Always hold your line!

There was a ton of press around it. The new contractor looked really, really bad and capitulated. FBF is up and running.

Can I just say I think it's super cool that those two photos look to be taken at almost the exact same time?

But the best part was that my son finally cracked the podium after coming 4th twice in a row.

They're cheap and can't hurt anything. This was the first time I'd ever used em in a race. Figured i was sick as **** anyways and they wouldn't hurt me.

USAFA has a tradition that as a senior in your last conference race in any discipline, you do it in a flight suit. This was yesterday in Aspen - last regular collegiate MTB race. Oct 11 is MTB Nats in Big Bear. I'll wait and see if this tradition is upheld in the RR.

Are you telling me your son is a senior already?

I'm older than I realized.

Last race in series, new series for fall coming soon. I liked the couple of tweaks to the course for this time around. This is at Dix in Raleigh:
