Was out for a pre-dinner walk with the wife and spied a bike out in an alley trash pile. Even without glasses, I could tell it was a road bike.
The homeowner was in the garage and I asked if he was throwing it out. He said yes and that he would have keep all the parts if he thought that anyone one would have wanted it.
Looks like a 1987 Schwinn Prelude. Tenex tubing. Looks to be in decent shape, but it was getting dark and I don't have my glasses. Looks like it only needs wheels, a seat and post (plus a nut for the rear brake.
Lucky grab, since my neighborhood is ruthlessly patrolled by scrappers.

One of our local cycling club members posted on our website that she had some bike frames that she was getting rid of. One was a late model CAAD 10 that I missed out on, but I did get this 1994 Specialized Allez Sport frame with a spare wheel and some various parts. This being a 60cm will work well for me once built up. I have a full 105 group that needs a frame. Timing is everything,

Snagged this Jaques Anquetil today with plans to make a Sunday rider out of it for my wife. Frame, fork, headset, and fixed cup came in at 8 pounds exactly. Not too bad for plain old Hi-Ten (or whatever you want to call it). Seems many of the original parts have been replaced. Still has a Belleri France stem, Eclair cranks, Samir Saminox rear rim, New Star rear hub, Cyclo 64 freewheel, and Lyotard 136 pedals with both dust caps. It'll get drop bars. We'll see what else.

One of our local cycling club members posted on our website that she had some bike frames that she was getting rid of. Yah, so this posting on Craigslist showed a rather neat old Austro Daimler frame. I cruised down to southeast CT. last Sunday and swooped on it. Nice and light weight, no rust, with Reynolds 531 decals on the fork.Seller included Shimano 600 crank set and brake calipers for $75 for all. The color is dark purple and the model is Inter 10.
Are these good quality bikes? It's made in Austria.

1990 Diamondback Master TG Centurion - Shimano 105
Here is something that was potentially saved from the dump - a 1990 Diamondback Master TG Centurion.
The story on this is that the Diamondback has belonged to my father for a least the past dozen years. Why he actually acquired this bike is a bit of a mystery to me. At almost 25" or 63-64cm, it's far too large for him (and me) and it has sat, unused, in my parents' garage since the day it came into his possession. About 10 days ago, I was visiting my parents and they wanted me to help them clean up and clean out their garage. I asked my dad what his plans were for the bike and he responded along the lines of he was 'just going to get rid of it'. So, I said I'll take it off his hands.
Overall, it was in pretty decent condition, especially the made-in-Japan Tange OS frame. For 30 years old, the paint is still excellent and they are very few chips or rust spots. The handlebars, chain, saddle, brake pads, cables, the remains of a Cateye computer and tires had seen much better days, so into the recycling bin or garbage can they went. As I own a VW Golf hatchback, I decided to strip and clean the frame as much as I could at my parents' home. The Mavic 190 FB Rimtec wheelset is in good shape, minus a few small dings, but needs truing. Apart from the brake hoods, the Shimano 105SC groupset is almost unmarred. I also managed to snag a Cinelli stem and Atom freewheel (they were originally mine and were on a Concorde Colombo with Columbus Aelle R tubing) a Sachs-Maillard freewheel, a Campagnolo chain tool and a Co2 inflator.
As the frame is way too large for me, I'll most likely offer it up for trade or sell it via the forum B&S, once I have time and I can cross the border from British Columbia into the U.S. For now, I'll admire the Diamondback's wonderful paint job. I have tentative plans for the Shimano 105 groupset (minus to too long 175mm crankset) and Mavic 190FB wheelset. They should look good on a Piesentin Super Vitus 971 frameset I won on eBay the other day. It's being sent from France, so hopefully it will arrive by mid-July and I can build it up then.

I apologize that this isn’t bike related, but I thought there would be some appreciation for vintage furniture here. I am super excited to have found this Heywood Wakefield butterfly table today, for $45.00!!! We have been looking for a mid-century style table, but we are normally priced out of the authentic stuff. The table came with 2 massive 18” leaves as well. It does need refinished, but that can happen when my kids get older.
Now we need to get some nicer chairs to compliment it.

I am super excited to have found this Heywood Wakefield butterfly table today, for $45.00!!! We have been looking for a mid-century style table, but we are normally priced out of the authentic stuff. The table came with 2 massive 18” leaves as well. It does need refinished, but that can happen when my kids get older.
Now we need to get some nicer chairs to compliment it.

Thanks, I agree. The house and table are probably built within a few years of each other. That is why we have been on the hunt.

Just beware of the hazards of a butterfly leaf table, do not overload one end. We had one growing up and my mother had finished up canning many jars of pickles, had the gladiolus flowers for the church sitting on one end and that Sunday morning I pulled out a glass gallon of milk from the fridge and put it on the table and boom it all ended up on the floor. A few folks with good noses were wondering where the pickle smell can from in church that morning.

We had one growing up and my mother had finished up canning many jars of pickles, had the gladiolus flowers for the church sitting on one end and that Sunday morning I pulled out a glass gallon of milk from the fridge and put it on the table and boom it all ended up on the floor. A few folks with good noses were wondering where the pickle smell can from in church that morning.
