My wife & I are doing a much needed & delayed spring cleaning. clearing out years of accumulation including an old piano that was my wife's grandmothers. Inside the piano we found a photo of our "pre- Jazz" terrier mix Squirt, and youngest daughter Liz from 2006. Somehow that photo got inside and I honestly don't remember it. A flood of memories came back. I've had 4 dogs in my life, all like members of the family...Squirt was the 3rd. We really grieved when he passed, nice to be reminded of him again when he was only about 5 months old.

My pittie is terrified of the firework noise. Since late May they've been popping around here and these custom earmuffs have helped her alot.

Unfortunately she does not accompany me on bike rides. I bought a pull behind kid carrier for her, but she would have none of it. We take walks together.

Bring back the dog thread!

Here's Ollie, our latest. Another adoption, we got him a couple years ago from the Humane Society. This is his first day with us, when we went to look at him he was prettu traumatized, basically ignored me, would walk away if I tried to pet him, but he started to fit in pretty quickly once we got him home.

He's a border collie/Australian shepherd mix, which I guess some people call an English Shepherd? I dunno. He's a pretty smart little guy but has massive storm anxiety and fireworks are not his favorite either.

He likes car rides and is a great passenger. Doesn't move around much, just choses a seat and stys put for the most part.

Beautiful!

My mini Aussie on the last page (Bailey) is the same with storms and fireworks. I’ve had success with full spectrum CBD oil. She was noticeably at ease ~5 mins after consumption (curled up shaking in the bathroom corner -> still in bathroom, but laying relaxed and no panting.)

Our Current "Best Girl" Leia, a 13year old Italian Greyhound. We are an I.G. family and have had the pleasure of having 4 of them grace our home. Our first, Aero lived to the ripe old age of 19 and when we brought him in to the vet for check-ups the doctor would have his residents come in to see the geriatric canine!
Best, Ben

Waiting for a handout and wondering,"Is that Ramen good?"

Yeah... we've tried just about everything with him. Aside from being around other dogs at a local doggy day care the only thing that works are full on prescription narcotics, and even then you have to give them to him before the storm hits or he'll power through it.

The good news is he's typically not destructive. He'll toss a room by pulling everything off the bed or couch or whatever and then move to the next room to see what he can mess up. I say typically because on a couple occassions he has pulled carboard boxes out of a closet and shredded them. Doesn't touch what is in them though.

The BIG exception to this was the one time he walked into a bathroom and the door closed behind him. Massive destruction trying to get out. He even tried to go through the window. He gave it a heck of a try, destroyed the window covering, the window frame, and a bit of the wall, but couldn't get out. Which is good. That window is three stories up. We started putting him in the aforementioned doggie day care when it was going to rain after that.

Looks like we have similar taste in bikes and dogs, eh?

Several years after losing our 35lb rottie/beagle mix Sophie, we finally decided to start hunting for another fur kid. A couple months ago, stumbled upon Coco here, but pretty sure she's full-on Plotthound vs. TN Treeing hound. She'd been surrendered to animal control in north-central GA with her two sisters after being apparently puppy-milled. We were initially looking for another smaller sized beagle mix, but she won us over when we met her. Great with our two younger kids.

Was clearly abused, an outside dog, bred during her 1st heat, and had been fixed by the country shelter while in her 2nd heat, just like her two sisters were. Was afraid of sticks and men with hats at first, would slump back from either. Full of personality now. Acts like a typical 1-year-old, smart as a whip. Only poops in mulched spots of the yard from day 1. Taught her to sit, lay down, give paws super quick. Just need to break that squirrel and chew fixation and we're in like Flynn.

After hunting for more info on the breed, after two other neighbors nearby told us what she was, I found the TN treeing hound. She definitely fits more of the Plott breed style. All-around great pup, didn't realize how much I missed having a four-legged friend in the house all those years.
