Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The Bianchi is lovely, I definitely wouldn’t go as far back as down tube shifting which interests me not one iota. Your bike definitely gives credence to going a little more modern, still a good look with the classic frame. We shall see.

Noodle, your Guerrciotti is a think of beauty. Something to be said for the flowing curves and pure unadulterated beauty of early ‘90’s Campy. We shall see, right now the look of my Race Face crank (not Potenza) has a look that I’ve not seen on any other bike and was pretty rare, perhaps with good cause!

I’m looking forward to unpacking it and seeing how how it rides along with what kind of shape it’s in.

Thanks. Sadly, I need a 62cm frameset(not the 60cm I have).

I like the looks of your current groupset better than Potenza. A proper stem and new wheels would look great on your DeRosa

Thanks - it's really not a very high end bianchi but that bike has seen some miles! And countries! Rode it in Singapore for 3 years.

as for DT shifters... me neither... in fact the best bike upgrade I ever made was going from 7 speed DT shifters on that Bianchi to 9 speed ultegra, but I'm tempted to find an old drive train for the express purpose of having a classic bike that can do Eroica events. No clue why I'm so fascinated by them.

Been a while since an update so here we go.

Received the bike, pretty gunked up but overall in good shape. The paint is super faded and I kind of prefer the faded pearlescent pink to the original. I won’t be repainting since my friend who would be doing the work felt that it would be very difficult to match and there are no decals available to match the hand done Ugo DeRosa signature. Plus as mentioned the paint is actually in pretty good shape.

I did give him the fork for his neighbor to chrome as that had flaked and bubbles pretty badly. Got it back yesterday and it’s beautiful. My friend highlighted the lettering and heart with some color which I love. Going to bring him my seat post and stem for anodizing removal and bright polish I think.

Keeping my eyes open for build components. Guy near me thinks he may have a mid-late ‘90’s campy record group around so will see if he can dig it out and at what price. Otherwise watching eBay.
