Trying to decide between the 2019 Escape 0 and 2017 Toughroad SLR1. Need some help!
Hey folks,
I'm looking to switch from a road bike (TCR Advanced) to a hybrid bike. I have narrowed it down to 3 bikes:
- 2019 Giant Escape 0 (new, $1026 out the door from LBS)
- 2019 Specialized Sirrus (new, $782 out the door from LBS)
- 2017 Giant Toughroad SLR1 (used, probably $800 after negotiation)
I'm sort of leaning towards the Escape as it is well equipped and new, but I did like the other two as well.
Can I have your opinions and advice?
Thanks.

The Toughroad has wider tires, so much more comfortable on rougher roads and off road. Also better control over rougher terrain or roads. i even put wider rims and tires on mine for even better comfort. Most other hybrids don't allow any wide tires and you are bound to good pavement surface.
That Escape also seems to have an older 9-speed Deore (new ones are 10-speed). The toughroad has the newer 10-speed version. The escape also has older Octalink style BB.
Used toughroad are very very rare, if you get a relatively new SLR1 for $800, that is good.

OP....really comes down to what the main purpose of the bike is and where you're riding it (mostly).
That said my preference would be:
1. 2017 Giant Toughroad SLR1
2. 2019 Giant Escape 0
3. 2019 Specialized Sirrus
However, if you like to be the first to put the scratches on....then swap 1&2.

@HerrKaLeun, thank you for your reply. I think that you are mistaken about the 2019 Escape 0 Disc. It has the 10 spped Deore mountain bike groupset.

The majority of the time, the bike will be used for riding on pavement. I would like to take it out on trails too, but the trails that I have in mind are hard-packed dirt with little to no heavy rock or brush.
