10th Anniversary Bike Commuting Today

I began my bike commuting journey on this day in 1999 by adding a rack to my 1984 Peugeot UO-14 and attaching my laptop bag to the rack using bungee cords. That eventually ended up in disaster. "You know nothing about bike commuting, Jon Snow". I migrated to panniers for a year or so but eventually just settled on riding my road bike or gravel/touring (Surly Cross Check-based) bike with a Chrome Citizen on my back. I even go straight to a lot of the club rides after work with laptop and clothes on my back.

My ride is only 4 miles each way but when the weather is good and I have daylight, I ride 15-30 miles 4-5 days per week on the "way home".

This has been the happiest 10 years of my life.

Um... arithmetic check: 2019 - 1999 = 20

So double congratulations I guess?

I started first workday of 2013, so a few years to go until my 10th anniversary.

He didn't say he commuted every year, it could be 10 years of commuting out of the last 20. I'm not sure how to count my commuting time. I think my first commute to work was in 2006 or 2007, but with not commuting during the winter and not commuting every day along with not commuting very often at first I can't come up with an accurate answer to the question of how long I've been commuting.

'this day in 1999' seems pretty specific, if it was only 10 years out of the 20, maybe he has a schedule of bike-commuting every other work day?

OP come back and splain yourself!
