And vintage MTB are getting more popular because they make great platforms for all sorts of other riding- touring, commuting, light trails, just looking fecking cool is where they shine. that and being indestructible.
unless its a unique bike hand built by a MTB pioneer, then yeah.. lets keep things in the hundreds and not thousands.

Merckx steel fork
Decent looking chrome fork local to me. Advertised as track fork but would that have drilling for a brake?

Classic Cycle has a few hard-to-find ABM MTBs here for about $1200, and they're purty. They also have some *extremely* rare Charlie Cunningham hand-made MTBs on display, which are not for sale.

If this were Celeste, I'd buy it myself to match my current roadie.

Fairly sure ths 60cm frameset is an early '70s Gitane TdF/SC. It netted zero bids last listing, maybe because it's a "mystery frame", but it's on schedule to end again for under $120 shipped:

"Rare 1960 Bianchi Sport Condorino - $600 (Amherst)
Very rare 1960 Bianchi Sport “Condorino” (baby Condor). 54cm c-c. Perfect show quality restoration to original paint specifications and original varnish-fix decals. All components are original, including Campagnolo hubs, quick releases and first generation Campagnolo Record rear derailleur and shifter. 3 speed Regina freewheel. Newer tires. Beautiful Bianchi integrated headset and Bianchi handlebars with integrated stem and brake levers. Bianchi embossed frame pump. Chrome is perfect! Rides beautiful, but unfortunately too small for me."Senior Member

its a mini project for someone who wants to either put pads, a seat and tires on it
or someone who wants to paint it

Boulder has a set of NOS Cinelli Top 64's for $58 with a full set of rare aero plugs. These are the bars that the cable housing runs inside the bar. You drill your own entry hole. Someone get them before I change my mind.
