Sounds like it was cancelled due to a mixture of COVID concerns, and the recent social media firestorm related to the name and founder’s social media posts.
Decent options for registrants to defer 2021, defer to 2022, charitable donation, or get a refund (minus fees).

The name is still an issue? I thought the Kaw Nation(i think thats the correct one?) said months ago that they recognize the word 'dirty' is clearly in reference to the race being ridding on unpaved roads and is not referring to members of the tribe/nation.

As a nearly lifelong Kansan, the negative connotation never would have occurred to me. I am no history expert, but when I see the words Kanza/Kansa/Konza I associate them with the land that the Kaw people inhabited, not the Kaw people.
My opinion: The name of any race isn’t that important. If indigenous people are offended by the name, it should be changed to any one of an infinite number of other possibilities so we can move on to more important things.

It looks like The Hondo will take place on September 12 and will take place in the Flint Hills with a course every bit as difficult as DK.

Since we live in Central Kansas, the gravel community is very large in the area and it was the discussion at the time.
As I said, it’s a rumor and I’ve got no facts and data to back it up. If however, it’s a fact, I could see the potential for a sponsor to ask for a change for similar reasons.

All good. The rumor mill was in full force with that. I even heard one rumor that Lifetime wanted to buy Land Run but one stipulation was a name change to their liking. *eyeroll*
