Modified Kilo WT
Hello,
New to the forum, but not particularly new (36 years old). Just wondering if anyone else has spent stupid money on this bike.

My girlfriend’s running the same frame. It’s not too bad for the money she paid. She and you can probably do better, tho.
I kept the budget on her build pretty light. Think I only used take-offs from my parts bin.
You went the other route, it seems, and got some pretty nice stuff.
No biggie, those components will transfer right over to another frame when/if you’re ready to do so. You can sell the kilo to help finance the new frame too.
My girlfriend’s running the same frame. It’s not too bad for the money she paid. She and you can probably do better, tho.

This bike was originally purchased as a runaround with my kids...something I wouldn't be particularly concerned about. Well, that didn't last long...and not particularly out of character for me, really.

Thanks, I appreciate that! Installed the front (still waiting on the rear) brake calipers today...so it's even shinier than this!

The chrome looks good. If you ever want mudguards for it look at the ones Handsome Cycles sells. They're made for tall forks like that so they don't sit up too high.

I went and paid extra for the chrome, but I really debated due to the decals...just unnecessary. Really wish they offered a "naked" option like on the Kilo TT. Thanks for the fender suggestion.

At least they didn't go crazy with decals. Personally, I think it looks great. I'd still probably keep the frame waxed, even if it is clear coated over the chrome. I'm anal like that. I need another bike like a hole in the head, but seeing that frame is making me itch a little.

Might not be a "need" to do it, but I know that chrome, as durable as it is can still oxidize. And when they clear coat the chrome, they do a good job I'm sure, but there could still be some areas susceptible to oxidizing. So to be safe, I'd just go ahead and keep it waxed. No big time or financial investment and it will help it stay clean to boot.

I bought my WT from bikeisland.com for $380 shipped because it had a paint blemish. I've since upgraded the stem, handlebars, seat post, saddle, wheel set, and tires, and added some accessories. Had it powdercoated moss green last month. Went from a very reasonable $380 bike to suddenly tickling $1K. But it is my favorite bike to ride so...

curious what chain guard is that love how no name and flat and clean it looks. and those handles sems like a good cruiser to and fro...

My Langster build is similar way too much for the bike but it rides nice. The brakes alone almost cost as much as a complete regular Langster. Granted I had them in the parts bin but still. Shoot I bought a Phil Wood seatpost collar for it not because I needed it but simply because I was doing an order with Phil and said why not everything else is pretty bling.
One of these days I am going to get me a really nice titanium or steel fixed gear frame for all these parts something custom but until then this is doing pretty fine. The reason this got all of the nice parts is I was going to retire my old Langster or sell it but the bottom bracket cracked so Specialized kindly replaced it but I didn't want to put the old parts on that frame so I said, time to do the upgrade with parts and figure out frame when you don't have 3 projects going.
