Unless I am sick I ride. If I don't during the week I get a call from the coach. If I don't show for a weekend ride my buddies start ragging on me.

Some of my best rides have come when I just didn't feel like riding but pushed myself out the door anyway.

My lazy ass says no every time but I still push myself to go. Now that I turned 50 I noticed it is easier to gain weight and harder to lose it. So I just get up and go. Once I am out there riding I start to feel better and my mood becomes more positive. It is a great sport and the people I meet are fantastic and supportive.

I like keeping my daily streak going. I'm at 1,028 straight days right now. It doesn't feel like a chore to me and helps me to avoid doing a negative streak (of days not exercising). It's just a part of my life now. I missed 5 consecutive days (1,028 days ago) due to kidney surgery/ureteric stent (ouch) but have otherwise ridden or run every day since July 2013.

I didn't feel like it today. Glad I did. The weather is really nice today and I really enjoyed it. I am not fast. The bike I rode today is a 1993 Trek 1200 with a few updates.

I do not ride when fatigued from lack of sleep. Yesterday I cancelled a long ride due to lack of sleep for two straight days. Too much risk involved when riding while fatigued. Feel is too vague, what is really going on in your mind/body? determines my choosing to ride or not.

You make a very good point. "Feel" is a bit vague. OP, what are you feeling?

Wow! That’s fantastic.

Hey, Cal Ripken’s consecutive MLB game streak was 2,632. You could break it in cycling ; )

Like many others have said, yes, I do.

I ride 3 days a week (MWF) for an hour at sunup. When I wake up on those mornings where I feel mentally unmotivated, physically sore from the day before (or just bothersome bodyaches from age...I'm 67) or some other worthless reason, I usually have a discussion with myself. It doesn't take long to remind myself that if I don't ride, I'll feel worse than after I've ridden. That dialog usually gets me pulling out my bike stuff and getting out for my ride. It's been a way to get me going even on cold days (which aren't usually very cold here in the SF Bay Area) and while I may feel bad when I don't don't go, I *always* feel better the moment I start pedaling and feeling the cool air against my face X(:^) <- (Note: morning hair)

There are days when I think: it's too cold. It's too hot. I'm too tired. I'm too busy....
but when I ride despite feeling like that, I never seem to regret it...there are days when I don't seem very into and cut it short, though.
I've only been sorry I choose to ride a handful of times. Uusally when: the weather dramatically and unexpected by me, changes....like a thunder storm when I thought there was no chance of rain.
And on: September 11, 2001.
Rode my bike to the school I teach at arriving at a bit past 9:30 for my 10AM class. Was a beatutiful September day, perfect for riding. I went up to my office to change and get my materials for the day....and people were in shock. Both world trade centers had been hit by planes.
As I headed towards my class, someone ran out in the hallway, declaring that a tower had just collapsed.
If felt really weird to be in the classroom....and about 20 minutes later we were informed the school was closing and classes were all canceled.
So I rode home (I live in Boston area , teach in the back bay) despertly wishing I had a radio so that I could know what the hell was going on, and half expecting, at a moment, to see the building along the Charles river explod as planes strated crashing into them (my school was just a couple of blocks from Boston's second tallest building)....
But most of the time: it's good to ride your bike when you don't want to.

My bike is my car, and that's how I get to work, still at it at 69 and not planning on stopping. On rainy days it's tempting to forget about it and take the bus, but I usually get the rain gear on and hit the road...

I'm feeling intentionally vague. Mostly a lack of motivation comment. Pushing through the "lazy", or even feeling "down" factor. Many comment about the lift in our mood we get when we push ourselves to get out there. Feeling unwell is another matter.

Seems when you get older it gets harder to self motivate. That's when you need to dig in. Fortunately it seems to rain very little where I live; it used to be on my bike and down to the gym. Now it's down the bumpiest road imaginable ond out of town asap. I'm enjoying it!. Life after COVID . . . .and all the disruption.
I don't think gyms will ever be the same again. They could have gone open air, or open window plus additional blowers to replicate open air conditions but nobody here seems to have any imagination!
