3000 miles in 2019
Just surpassed 3000 miles for the year while out riding to burn off Christmas revelry!! That was my goal for the year. Gotta come up with a new goal for the new year.

Last year I came up 8 miles short of 3000. This year I passed it a couple of weeks ago. Not much riding since then since I've been traveling and/or the weather has been horrid.
The outlook for next year isn't so good. My company was sold recently and the new owners are looking to have me travel a lot more than I have in the past. If I can keep weekend travel to a minimum it might not be so bad but we'll see.

Got my 3000 miles a week or so ago. Just signed onto the 5000 miles challenge on Strava for 2020. Should be attainable as in 2018 did 6003 miles. Only rode 6 months this year due to health and travel. Started in June and made the 3000 plateau.

Congratulations!
Unlike the posters above, 3,000 miles is far more than even a stretch goal for me, so I'm in awe of you all.

I’m another one in the 3,000 mile club. I did 1,500 in 2018 and for several years before that only did 200 to 300 miles. I’m thinking I could do at least 4,000 next year 😊

In June of 2017, I was T-boned by a car on my bike. I broke my right ankle on both sides and broke my tibia/fibia/and my left shoulder. My come back has been rough. However, this year I rode over 3k miles including a 140 mile charity ride. It's been a good year on the bike.

Well, I didn't make it to 3,000 miles (only 2,706 so far), but more importantly, I made it to well past 275,000 feet of climbing. Around here, climbing counts way more than mileage.

Congratulations on a true milestone. I was able to reach 1100 miles this year and hope to reach 2000 next. You put in the time and energy and made it happen.

Congrats on making the goal. I set a goal of 2500 miles and it looks like I'm going to come up pretty short. That doesn't bother me though. This year seemed to be about taking 15 mile casual rides rather than trying to crank on any serious (personal) mileage.

My shoulder took a ton of physical therapy and I only feel it when I raise my arm to put on deodorant. The only other effect I have had from my shoulder is that I prefer narrower handlebars.

3092 as of today. I may get a few more miles in before the end of the year. 4793 in 2018, but I had some family issues this year that took away my riding time. Now that I've retired I've set my goal to 6000 for 2020.

Fendertele: 2,000 miles is great for year 1. Hope you didn't neglect your guitars.
I was aiming for 4,000+ this year and hit 5,098 with today's 5 mile ride, probably my last in 2019. (mid-30's and windy - supposed to be a bit colder tomorrow.)
My first time to make 5,000.
This has been my first not-working year, which may explain the increased mileage. Pretty sure I had never ridden 22 days in December, either. (Except maybe when I lived in Atlanta 33+ years ago and was an everyday bike commuter.)

Congrats on breaking thru the 5,000 mile threshold. That’s awesome.

Looks like I had 9,471 miles for the year. And can think of three guys right off that are older than me and got more.

My goal for 2018 was 3000 miles, and I achieved it in the last week of December. After getting hit by a car in November, I didn't think I'd make it... those last rides were done on flat ground, riding my heavy old commuter bike.
Looking for a new goal for 2019, I thought "I want to get better at hills." Strava told me I had 90,000 feet of elevation gain in 2018, so my goal for 2019 was to double that! It was going well until May, when I needed to have half my thyroid removed. That knocked me off my bike for 4 or 5 weeks of prime-season riding. I ended up with about 163,000 feet for calendar year 2019. Though mileage wasn't a specific goal, I just barely hit 3000 miles again.
I'm climbing much stronger than I was, but not strong enough to feel quite ready for the tour of the Pyrenees I've been day-dreaming about. Here's my inspiration: Col collection | The Col Collective - Cycling Inspiration and Education
I bought a pedal-mounted power meter in October, and it's giving me some insight into my performance. For 2020 I've decided to work on sustained power and also on losing some weight. Specifically, my new goal for 2020 is to improve from about 2.6 W/kg to 3 W/kg (20 minute avg). I expect that will require about 17% wattage gain, depending on weight loss.
