Disco Shoes!

I can't wait to ride home in the dark this winter with my new LED shoes! Not the kind that spark a flash of light when stepping, but lights that stay on solid or flash. I was thinking of keeping these on solid yellow. The movement of my feet while pedaling should give them all the motion they need to catch a motorist's eye. Adding LED shoes to my bike and helmet lights and reflectors means I will be lit up like Chirstmas and Chanukah combined!

The shoes just came today...I will post a video of them in action soon.

Pedal reflectors are one of the best ways to make a bicyclist more conspicuous. Those shoes take the idea to a whole new level. Put them on the blue setting and from a distance they may look like police lights. Blue lights on anything other than police cars is a violation here in California. I don’t know if that would also apply to bicycles. Probably.

Hmm... idea... clip a tiny blinkie tail light to the heel loop of my Pearl Izumis. Might flop around too much, but it sure would be eye catching.

I've often wondered about the legality of having blue flashing lights on your person while riding a bike. Technically the vehicle (bike) doesn't have blue lights, but the rider does. Only reason I've wondered is because I took one of those small white LED lights you strap onto your handlebar and replaced the white light with a bright multicolored LED. If it were mounted on the back of my helmet it would get attention as it flashes red, green, and blue. But if a cop would have a problem with it then I won't do it.
