What a lot of young riders don't realize is that bikes of this era were limited to a seatpost length of about 8 inches max, so 6" of useable length. There just weren't super-long 350mm and 400mm seatposts until well into the MTB years, longer seatposts siimply weren't made. A tall person on a 23" or even a 25" frame could not get the leg extension he needed, so a frame this size was the only choice for the tall ones. One of my wife's co-workers rode his bike over to our place and parked it in the driveway. I could see the distinctive black and gold across the yard and said, "'81 Puch Pathfinder in a twenty-seven-inch frame size." He was even more impressed when on closer inspection I found my own initials on the bike's shop sticker. I'd assembled it when new. This guy was actually tall enough to warrant a frame that large.

That this thing from Ebay.co.uk is called an Olympus but somewhat painted like an RGP is a bit amazing. It looks like a totally different bike otherwise though which shows the factory in Nottingham in its prime pumped out a lot of different kinds of bikes.
No chrome tipped fork blades but pump holders on the tt. Likewise, it has a torch braze on as well on the fork. 26" wheels the seller claims. A bit puzzling.

I don't feel like doing the research to find the specific model or year, but this looks to be a fairly easy buy given the leather saddle, chromed bits on the frame, ect.

I see a few towns, one can put in Trek in the search box for Craig's list and you do get a whole lot of hits, probably should be my next bike, a Trek.

Not the best-looking bike, but it's still a Bob Jackson, and the componentry looks top.
Resisting the urge to strip it down and respray it would be an exercise in restraint.
