UAE bike problems Stage 7
As I understand it, Colnago are developing the successor to the V3RS - a frame too new to have an official number, it’s simply called the “Prototipo”. Apparently they decided to do some in-the-field tweaking before they finalized the design, so they shipped 5 prototype frames, all slightly different, to UAE to test during the Tour. I’m speculating that the various frame issues, from Pog’s seat adjusting during the neutral start, to 3-4 other UAE riders swapping bikes mid-race, was a result of riding prototypes rather than their own frames. Seems like a terrible idea (testing during a race as important as the Tour), but maybe as a sponsor, Colnago forced the issue

Maybe they just have lousy mechanics. But that's is useless speculation too.

Whichever broadcast I was watching, the broadcaster stated people associated with the team couldn't comment because of sponsor contract obligations. I'm paraphrasing, but something to that effect. I think it was Phil Liggett.

Such contracts will usually have broad non-disparagement clauses.
