Strava Club for 65+ group
Once you turn 65, you realize that 50 is still pretty damn young. So this is a Strava club for authentic seniors. It's called "65". Join up!

I'll be 69 soon and tried Strava but it was too complicated and what I could figure out didn't provide the data I was interested in, so I'm back to my old standby app, CycleMeter.

I'm in. I see this as a real opportunity to send/receive kudos and encouraging comments. The 50 plus guys are just so immature and, more importantly, too hung up on numbers (average speed, climbing, VAM, etc.). BTW, I'll show you my VAM if you show me yours

There really isn't a lot of bravado on the Strava 50+ board, because people are honest and don't typically juice the figures.
I used to look at the times claimed on the "Did you ride today" thread and feel like a slug. Folks were claiming 18 MPH on recovery rides and such.
The new format shows reality. 18 MPH is at the very far end of the bell curve. I haven't done the math, but I suspect the top part of the curve is roughly 11-14 MPH.
No one much keeps track of VAM except for a handfull of people.
So I wouldn't be put off by the numbers aspect of Strava. It's not like anyone really cares that much.

The 65+ group needs to step it up. Only 5 members so far with almost no geographic diversity - all from CA.

It is just nice to have a group of peers sharing ride experience. While I feel some understanding for the 50's crowd --- most of my riding buddies are in that age group --- there is some difference is performance and cycling issues. It's just fun to see what we all do, ups, downs, and all.
