Restoring a Zipp 2001 Beam Bike (help)

I am rebuilding a Zipp beam bike. I have never worked on anything not brazed together and compatability issues are plaguing the build.
I am looking for advice. I am going to use
Zipp 950 rear. Zipp 440 front. Mavic Starfish 1st gen cranks. Campagnolo Delta brakes.
now from this point I need help. I have a whole mess of gear bits. I have decided on 8 speed Shimano and won't be using tri bars. In keeping period correctness to 1991 to 1994 period what is the ideal derailleur set up for a nice smooth ride. (Chain. Cassette/sprocket. R/d. F/d.) I am thinking of using bar end shifters. But am open to suggestions or offers of a used groupset. powerclocks@hotmail.com
many thanks to those with either good or funny responses. I need a laugh in isolation

6400-series Shimano 600 'Tricolor' would be the period-appropriate 8-sp group for that build. That series also includes first-gen STI shifters, which would be more appropriate than touring-bike bar-ends.

9-sp 6500-series is the first group badged as Ultegra. The FR/DR are now polished instead of the 600's dark grey, which would go with the other shiny bits you picked. The shifters have an alloy 'bullet' nose instead of the flat nameplate of the 6400's.

For chains and cassettes, I'd run modern stuff, rather than look for NOS, even entry-level stuff is much better than what we had 30 years ago, particularly the chains. Shimano cassettes, but I like SRAM chains for the combination of finish, performance and price.

If you want to use Deltas , id source a complete Chorus or Record groupset

The Mavic cranks are orphans as finding the rest of the group to build it properly could be a pain

As Ironfish653 stated , Shimano 600 tri-color would be a very nice, somewhat easy to obtain groupset that would pair well with Zipp wheels and frameset

It sounds like it could shape up to be a nice build --- it would cheapen the presentation by piecing it together with mutt parts from several different manufacturers and countries of origin
