Bike protection
Hi there! I got a new road bike and just wanted to ask questions about bike protection.
1. It already came with a transparent tape-like chainstay protector. Do I need to shell out for an additional layer or will it do its job?
2. Do I need crank boots? My crank arms are alloy.
3. Besides the above two, are there other things I should be aware of if I want to minimize cosmetic damage on my frame? I've heard of using helicopter tape to protect the downtube and BB area and I'm interested in its effectiveness.
Thanks!

I wrapped 99% of my bike in "helicopter" tape. I have a steel bike so once a year I tear it down and spray the inside of the frame down to protect from corrosion. I keep everything else lubricated and cleaned as needed. Enjoy your new wheels.

I would be terribly concerned about that last 1%.
