On the first lap of the crit I'm spinning like mad and just keeping up. I'm thinking "WTF? I'm not feeling good, but this is just weird." During the second lap I look down and I'm in the small chain ring. I felt so stupid. Still do.
You could start the "senior moment" thread, in which this post might be considered appropriate; and it would give some others a place to provide a "plausible" explanation for certain types of outcomes

When I go to a charity ride I am a cycling god. When I go to a fast club ride I am off the back in the hills and I'm the guy the new guys mark for their first conquest.

Rode outside both days this weekend. Apparently rediscovering the guitar in the basement all winter was not effective cross training.

Here are the options:

1) Orgo: She and I are doing alright because the chemistry just feels organic.

2)Bio: We get along well, but when I'm around her all I can think about is sex. And I can never tell when she's getting all hormonal on me.

3) Physics: The more I think about it, I think I might be falling for her. She's thrown me for a centripetal loop every now and then, but the string snapped and it's all parabolic from here.

4) Gen Chem: At the rate at which we're going, I can't figure out if we're moving forwards or backwards. She's also quite diffuse...

5) Verbal: We can talk for hours, but we never seem to agree on anything.

Decisions decisions....

I did that in the final race of a Spring Series (pre-Bethel), but I only noticed it with 1/2 lap to go. I wasn't overgeared in the sprint but I felt like it - I sprinted in a 53x14 I think and normally I'd do a 13 or 12 there (New Britain). Got 2nd to the leader, 2nd overall. It's the place I deserved anyway.

It's all good.

Boss update:
He's out of the hospital, off the oxygen, and bored at home.
We still shouldn't see him until next week though.

Yes, it was. Saturday was a ride in an area we don't frequent but it was perfect weather and a casual pace so I didn't feel like I should be in a cardiac ward after the ride.
An old pic.
