Indeed. I only ever post anywhere when I'm (allegedly) at work. Rain here, am anticipating arrival of my very own trainer. Woo.

SOOoooo.... still thinking about racing a couple of times here in the next few weeks. I may just see what it feels like mentally.
The wife and I had a talk about it and she said she didn't want to take that away from me. If the funds are there then she wants me to race.

I may race this Saturday.

I took electronics I (phyx 315) as an elective my last semester. Super cool.

Near the end of the semester, we started playing with digital chips and JK flip flops, but our (archaic) chips only had 2-3 flip flops/chip.

If you mean the same thing as what I learned when you talk about terra and peta flops, than holy ****.

If you had to do it, how would you transport a trainer on a bus trip? I don't need many clothes, but I'll be taking a few books home to study when I'm back.

Exactly. Compared to the POS computers we had (relative to this guy), the computing power is incredible.

Different kinds of flops. This type of FLOP is floating point operations per second.

In case some of you missed it, this is Matt Doran's video of the Nyack Ride from last Sunday (Matt's a team mate of gsteinb and mine on Brauer). Good video, really conveys the feel of the ride. It was fast that day, 60+ guys early on, <40 near the end (where this footage is from), none of the considerable array of pretty fast guys (NJ TT champ, a couple of Mengoni boys, etc.) at the front launched any successful breaks (they typically do on that ride), the tempo was kind of high. Matt uses a digital video cam mounted on his handlebars. I make a brief cameo @ 7:37, Matt was at and near the front, I was in the back in cheap seats, but I did manage to survive this ride. Good workout that day.

It says contestants may be prescreened. I take that to mean they pick people, but I don't know for sure.

You have to take a test (it's online now -- in 2000 it was in a hotel ballroom) and the qualifiers play a mock game with the producers. I think that's the screening process. And no one told me what to study. Based on watching a lot of games, I tried to note the subjects that came up often.
