Recommended Floor Pump?
Hi, I am looking for a floor pump. I have a budget of $100 (splitting it three ways with some friends - awesome, right?).
I worked at a LBS which went through 2 Joe Blow Pros in one season. Their 'smart head' just gave out after a few months! Obviously, they take a lot more abuse but still..., 2 pumps gone just like that?.
I just don't want to go through that trouble, so how is the Lezyne CNC floor pump, which I would order from Amazon for $90 (unless someone knows where I can get it for cheaper).

you might want to use a joe blow with the twinhead design.

Oh and the Lezyne CNC is awesome...I have one and prefer it to my others (I have all of those listed above). My list is in order of preference. I also have one of their frame pumps and got to use it Friday afternoon helping another cyclist out. I was amazed how easy it was to get good pressure in the tire with that thing. I'm sold on what Lezyne is doing...beautiful and functional.

I've been using a Performance Hurricane Essential floor pump for years of trouble-free service. It looks like it might be a rebadged Serfas pump. Has a "smart head" with thumblock, pressure gauge with a rotatable dial marker, metal base and barrel and plastic handle. The current version of the Essential doesn't seem to have the smart head: you have to move up to the Team HP to get it. The latter is currently on sale for $45 (normally $50).

I have had a Joe Blow Pro since 2006. It has been completely rebuilt several times. The last thing I did to it was replace the gage. I finally decided to make it my backup pump and bought a Lezyne CNC Floor pump. There is no comparison in quality between the two pumps. I think the Lezyne will outlast me. If you do a Google search for Lezyne CNC Floor pump, you can find it for less than $90.00.

There have been 2 sitting in the shop for about 8 months now, no problems. Have one for myself, no problems. Never saw one returned with any issues either.
If you're looking to spend $100, you'd get a nicer one for that money, but to anyone else looking at this thread looking to save, the Hurricane Essential is great.

I have a Lezyne floor drive which is their cheapest pump I believe and it works phenomenally. I love the screw on head that it has because it always works. With the other pumps with the levers on the head, I always have air leaking or something and have to reposition it to get it to work.

I got my Joe Blow Sport on sale at Performance a few years ago. I replaced an all plastic cheapie that was not serviceable. Whatever you buy, make sure you can take it apart and replace/grease the oring.

I have the Floor Drive with the wooden handle. Beautiful, the grip just feels good, and utterly reliable. The screw-on head on both the floor pump and the frame pump attach perfectly, and it feels solid.

I too swear by Silca (in a good way). Mine is 17 years old and it is rebuildable. All I have ever done is replace the head a few years ago.

Mini air compressor from Ace Hardware. Plug it into what was once called a cigarette lighter, now a power port or something of the sort, in my car. I've had this thing for over 20 years. Paid $6-7 for it.

I did a similar thing, buying a Black & Decker auto inflate for like $20 on Amazon. It is a lot faster and doesn't require any energy on my part. It's built for Schraeder valves, but a $0.99 adapter makes it work just fine on a my presta tubes.
