Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hello there. ,
I recently rode my friends Specialized Roubaix and had a blast went solo for 14.5 miles @ 13.5 mph average, toping out @ 25mph. At least this is what his computer thingy said. I have to say it was a blast, I'm 29 and I play golf for fun, but I think this Road bike stuff has got a hold of me. I went to my LBS and after looking at some bikes I ordered a Specialized Tarmac Comp, - I'm sure it's more than I need but I don't want to buy a bike and grow out of it anytime soon. I was wondering however, I'm 6'1 and 185 lbs, will I see any significant weight reduction by cycling? I am looking to loose some muscle mass and become a little more lean. my favorite part of my ride was climbing, it really makes you push yourself..
well.. Hello and thanks for making the forum an inviting experience

thanks
Vic

I'm a shave under 6'2". When I started riding I was about 215. Now I'm 175 and still looking to loose 10 to 15 pounds. If you're going for that refugee camp look, then cycling is definitely for you.
