Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Look at the price of replacement spokes before you buy any wheelset.

What kind of wheels do you now have?

What kind of riding do you do?

What other wheels have you looked at?

My Bianchi Infinito was originally equipped with Fulcrum 5. They are well-built wheels, but a bit on the heavy side. The hub action is very positive and the engagement is quick and positive.

I upgraded my Fulcrum 5 wheels because I wanted to save some weight.

I, however. liked the Fulcrum 5 wheels enough that I went with Fulcrum Racing Zero for my C59.

good luck.

The bike now has the factory wheels from fuji and the wheels called fuji too
They are durable but heavy i think..
Road biking is my hobby and i make more or less 200km per week
May now start workouts with a local cycle team!

I find racing quattro 70 euros more expensive than racing 5 and i dont know if deserves that money!
what about 35mm rim of quattro 30mm rim of 5?What may be the differnce?

What are you trying to achieve with this "upgrade"?

Racing 3 2-way fit, hutchinson fusion 3 tubeless tires. Done. Only wheel's I'll buy until I can afford Racing 1's or 0's.

Somebody thinks that if he ll change the stem or the seatpost with a carbon one will became an upgrade..

I have read and i am absolutely agreed that the upgrade should start from the moving parts of the bike..

Wheels first crankset, bottom bracket, pedals, cassete and chain.

I am at the beggining

I agree 100%, I like your thinking much better than your buddies line of thought. I have the Fulcrum Racing 7, low end wheelset, they are very reliable, I am 235 lbs so I test a wheels strength just sitting still. No spokes have loosened and they have taken some rough roads with out a whimper. If I could afford the 5-3 I'd get them in a NY minute.

I have 2 sets of Fulcrum 5's and believe them to be among the best wheels available at their modest price point.

Most of us here in the 41 have upgraditis, so not knocking your desire to upgrade. But there's bling factor "upgrades" - eg. carbon cages - vs upgrades that will actually improve the quality of the performance of the bike, whether significantly or marginally, all in diminishing returns. Wheels are arguably the starting point, but even then, if the newer wheels are marginally better, you'll not notice much of a difference in the bike.

I have Fulcrum 5's - they are good quailty, everyday riding wheels. Unless your OEM wheels are simply boat anchors, I doubt you'll see much improvement - at least not what you think you're expecting - in bike performance. If you really want to get faster, start with improving your engine. IMO, save your coin a bit longer an opt for the Racing Zeros (at that price point, your options are much greater) or carbon wheels where you can easily drop a pound on the wheelset alone. If you must upgrade your wheels now, it would be prudent to also look at Williams or Soul wheels - much better value for the price than the Fulcrums, IMO.

Go the Racing 3's, I have, if you have a shimano/sram groupset google jejamescycles and you will find a set of fulcrum 3 for £300.

I don't work for them by the way, just waiting for the wheels to arrive tomorrow!

I agree the best place to start upgrading the bike is the wheels!

All the best

I upgraded from old school 10 speed freewheel/friction shifters to modern 10 speed. I was looking for the cheapest reasonable wheels I could find, and ended up with Fulcrum 5's. They are fine wheels. They stay true and take abuse and I have no reason to regret or change anything.
