The only downside is that when you ride it in the rain the whitewalls get dirty quickly and are impossible to clean due to rim wear. I'll figure something out for that some time. It was fun building it in secret as she spent 6 months in the US for her PhD, gave me the time and space to go all out.
Thanks! There are some great examples of lightweight lugged steel bikes from the mid 90's and they are easy to work on.

I missed days before Coronavirus outbreak that me and my bike could burn the roads. My university gives online lectures nowadays and coastal parks where i can do recreational rides are closed until June, so no way to ride my K.I.T.T these days. I'm waiting for better days that we can burn the roads again.

Picked this up on Saturday, and it proceeded to pour all day (of course) so I was able to get it out for a bit yesterday on a break-in ride. What a smooth bike!

So Canyon installed the shifters upside down? I wonder if that was for some sort of packaging constraint.

Not during initial assembly nor the first ten-mile ride (or since) did I even pay that attention. Hell, I had to pull up pics of my old bike to even confirm how it's supposed to be done. I been away from this too long.
I suspect that was deliberate, to protect the hydraulic brakes from being moved by an impact especially considering one wheel was shipped detached. I wondered why the shifting action felt weird. Mea culpa.

Canyon assembles and roadtests all their bikes before shipping; the stem came in place and the lettering reads properly as installed. The bar was_not connected, and *that* is where some imbecile (one guess) managed to get it backwards. I guess it's a testament to how cleanly they ran the lines, because (this being my first bike with hydraulic brakes) I was paying the most attention to trying to arrange it so the brake lines "seemed" most smoothly-run.
"This is weird. I don't remember shifting the rears from the left side before."

SuperDave....^^^^that's a funny story cause its something I could see myself doing too! But I think I would catch on when I pulled the Right Brake lever and go over the handlebars

Picked this up curbside yesterday at a bike shop in Calgary as a belated B-Day gift for my wife. Most shops are either quickly selling off or have depleted their existing stock of bikes and so I was fortunate enough to make this happen. She says that it's about time to level the field when it comes to riding with me now that she has a new weapon at her disposal. Sorry, the only image I have of her bike is this one as it's a virtual deluge outside.
