TSDZ2 On Catrike Dumont Trike
I've only had the system up and running but so far I very pleased. Simple to install and operate. I bought it from David Hall who has provided great CS. https://www.eco-ebike.com/collections/tongsheng-tsdz2
On my time trial course out and back of 14 miles total and 29' per mile of elevation gain with lots of wind I averaged 20 mph with a 42t chainring and 22 mph with a 52t ring riding in Level 4 the highest assist level. On a hilly course of 25 miles, 40' per mile of elevation gain and a couple of repeats of a 12% hill I averaged 17.5 mph using assist level 3 and not trying to make a time trial out of it. This is a mid-drive motor but unlike the Bafang it has torque assist which I wanted. I didn't by a throttle, or e-brakes and I don't have the remote +/- button connected. If I don't pedal the trike doesn't move. The harder I work the faster I go-no free ride. I am use to spinning on a DF road bike but the sweet spot for the motor is 70-low 80s rpm. So it is very muscle intensive to ride hard. Without the motor I had trouble getting my hear rate average for a ride much above 70% of max heart rate. With the motor I can ride long periods at 80-82% of max heart rate because I'm not bogging down with a heavy trike riding through rollers and strong winds. IMO the downsides to the Dumont regarding performance become pluses when e-assist TS motor is installed. Downsides are: the system is not programmable, at least not by the average person, assist Level 1 is no faster than the trike without the motor and battery installed, assist level 2 could be higher, the speed sensor for the trike kit should have a shim about 1/4" so the sensor will pick up the magnet as the trike stays are very wide. If interested you can save a bit of money buying from China off AliExpress but I wasn't comfortable doing that and the CS I received from David and his support when I had questions made it worth while to spend a bit more and support a US small business which is in Nashville. How lone will the motor hold up without issues-quien sabe?

Meh. My Kawasaki 750 could have done it at 70+ mph, depending on what kind of curves the course had. Once you add a motor, the only thing limiting speed is how much motor you're willing to pay for.

On the trike I have difficulty getting an average heart rate above the low 70% of max HR. With the motor working hard I can get an 80-85% average of max HR like on a road bike. So I get a much better aerobic workout riding hard with the motor than without. YMMV.
