Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Aargh! 10 days without an outdoor ride.

My place of work shut down today because of snow, and the bad weather means that I haven't been outside on a bike for 10 days, which is the longest I've been away from it for a long time now.

Things got bad enough last night that they even cut my spin class at the Y short by 30 minutes to clear everyone out. Anyone ever heard of an indoor bike session cut short due to weather?

Anyway, I'm getting a bit frustrated and needed to vent a bit. Hopefully we'll be back to good old rain in the next few days so that I can get back to the (now sandy) roads.

Those of you in the Puget Sound area can relate, I'm sure.

That really sucks man - maybe it's time to experiment with recreational drugs to make the trainer time more enjoyable?

I can't remember the last time I rode outside, it's been so long.

Oh wait, it was November 30th. I haven't ridden this month at all.

And your work shut down because of snow? Where do you work, a golf course or lawn bowling court?

Guess us Cali Boyz are spoiled!..This morning was in the forties. Usually see about 10 others on this course. Today, I was lonely....But when you're used to 110 Deesgrees, 40's are freezing!
