The grouch is back from vacation.

Had a wonderful trip. Rode a little over 300 miles. Weather was perfect - highs in the upper 70's and, like Camelot, it only rained after sundown. I think that the Wisconsin North Woods might really be God's country.

I gained about 3 or 4 pounds on the trip so I definitely can't say that I rode myself into shape. If you're ever in Eagle River and they ask whether you want one scoop of or two, opt for one unless you want a cereal bowl full of ice cream.

No pictures. The only thing to see was trees and lakes. Half of the time you couldn't see the lakes for the trees.

Nope, I live in a condo.

Whenever I find myself missing lawn mowing I offer a few pointers to the landscaping guys. They really appreciate that I'm sure.

Glad to see that you had a good time.

It is even cooler today. It was 55 at 7am, 62 at 9:30 and 68 at noon today. Clear blue skies & low humidity.

Were most of your roads flat, or did you find some hills? Hate to admit it, but I've only been up there one time. I usually don't go any further north than Stevens Point or Eau Claire.

I wouldn't call it flat. I think that rolling hills would be a better description. There are some challenging hills around Phelps and there is one pretty good hill just north of Merrill with a Rene' Menard memorial at the top. We did the Rene' Menard hill both coming and going so we got to coast down both sides.

Incidentally, I know that you don't like riding on the road very much. While we had to contend with some traffic on the town-to-town days, we spend 3 days riding around Eagle River. The majority of those roads had pretty good pavement and next to no traffic.
