Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Curious: why? Why not just get the right cleats?

I expect because of more float on the Look.

then just switch to Look pedals. I’m up to 3 pairs of Keo Classic pedals now because every time I need to replace my cleats I can pick up the pedals for $30, whereas cleats on their own are $20+.

Pedals (especially road pedals) run on the printer+cartridges price model nowadays.

I don't think he's talking about plastic road Look cleats. keo or delta. He wants to use the Look MTB cleats that are metal and have more float than the SPDs. I presume he already has the pedals so I can't blame him for not wanting to buy another set if it'll work.

Maybe the cheapest pedals.

Dura-Ace SPD-sl pedals are about $200 and the cleats are $15-20.

This is about mountain cleats and pedals, not road, event though this is the road topic
