Need help tracking down Dahon bikes...

i'm in norcal bay area and went to some of the shops that Dahon USA listed as dealer. some of them don't even carry dahon anymore or have any in the showroom.

here are some models i'm looking at:

dahon x27
dahon dash x20 (discontinued.. but hope to find shops with NOS)
dahon bullhead (discontinued.. but hope to find shops with NOS)
IOS D9

i know there are some models that TERN also has but TERN is usually higher in price compared to Dahon for the same thing.

anyways.. i'd be open to it. i'm not rich.. but company have programs to promote green and healthy lifestyle.. so it'll pay for itself.

if you guys know of any LBS that has it for me to check out, that'll be great.

or if any online shops that has it too..

thanks in advance...

And Terns are not necessarily the same thing at a higher price.

In particular the main hinge joint is much beefier on most Terns, certainly on their Verge and Eclipse models, than any Dahon.

When I bought my Speed P8 I looked long and hard at several Tern's in the shop, looked at several Dahon's

I saw no difference other than color or maybe main tube shape. The joints look very similar to me..

As for parts spec,, both were comparable spec to price..

The OCL joint in terns use bearings (verge model and maybe some other models) and so is serviceable and more reliable in long term. Also they are massive so is stronger. Tern also uses physis handle post which is massive and stronger. Try Google around you will find the difference.

My LBS will have 1000-1500 bikes in stock in the spring and early summer, one or two of which will be Dahons. They're kept in a corner behind other bikes you have to climb over to get close to them. I'm not in that often, but on two occasions I've had to explain to another customer and the floor sales staffer how the bikes are folded/unfolded.

I've wondered if Dahon USA ever cajoles/coaches its under-performing dealers in doing a better job and/or pulls franchises and gives the sales territory to another dealer that's willing to commit a little effort to make money with the product?

Fun fact: Dahon's Vicegrip Lattice forged and V-Clamp hinges use stainless steel pins riding on lubricant impregnated bronze 'bearings'.

Ok I looked, IMO my Dahon Hinge is plenty strong,

As for the Tern Hinge It seems like it would wear out faster...

But then again I don't think any one of the hinges would be a problem unless a really large guy rode the bike..

"Fun fact: Dahon's Vicegrip Lattice forged and V-Clamp hinges use stainless steel pins riding on lubricant impregnated bronze 'bearings'." Yep Yep

No Plastic I could find In mine
