Show off your Specialized Allez
Post up your Allez pics. I would love to see them. Old or new.
I can't be the only person who has an Allez fetish. Ever since the film "America Fliers", I have been hooked. I'm looking to add a 2015 or a 2016 Allez to my stable this year unless I find a deal I can't pass up on something else.
OK on with the Allez Porn.

1993 Allez PRO
1986 Allez SE Jim Merz Edition

I picked up the frame just days before left Oregon because it was such a good deal. Was full 8spd Tri Color 600. The group went to another C&V member and now Cory has this and I ended up with some green backs.

I have a crazy collection of Allez from 1981 to 2000 but here's the one that recently topped my list, a 1986 with Tange Prestige tubing and "new" Dura Ace. This bike rides sooo well!

Wow. I didn't know the Allez line included such beauties. Just wow. It would top about any list.

Cool. I distinctly remember when I saw my first Allez.
Murdoch's Bicycle in Goleta, California. Would have been 1981/1982. There was this blue frameset from a company with a strange name hanging on the wall right next to the purple Guerciotti frameset. My brothers and I were not excited by the Allez, but the Guerciotti had our hearts pounding!

Frogbutter - that's a nice collection! Someday I'd like to have a 1990's Allez Pro in my collection also. I like the "Designed in California" decal with the USA background.
Erzulis Boat - I remember Murdoch's but I spent more time downtown at Hendrickson's in the loft!

However I believe the biggest difference is the frame geometry and tubing. The Sport carries a kinda generic Cro-Mo decal and the PRO and the SE have the Specialized Racing Tubing decals.

I'm really tempted to copy the yellow theme of your cousin's bike, never would have though of it myself but it works really well.

How do the carbon tube frames ride? I'm thinking about picking up one, just not sure about the ride quality.

I have to say, between the the steel and the carbon, the carbon was much smoother. We have poor roads around here, lots of heavy truck traffic courtesy of rock trucks and tanker trucks. The steering is twitchy, it'll track straight down the road but even the slightest steering input and it wants to immediately dart into that direction.
I think I really lucked out with the Allez, it just glides and it is silent. Take this with a grain of salt, one I'm very new to road bikes, and I'm still a bit starry eyed from actually getting this bike. I think they are very pretty.

I love my '93 Allez Pro. Have seen only Jim's signature on an Allez NDS chain stay and w/o "Designed by", can't remember colors, bike in question could have been a respray, it was gorgeous.
