Nice workroom. Arts & crafts table beside a 50's chrome dinette. Does the rotary phone work?

The chainring came about for two reasons:
1-It was in the garage
2-It fit

That's the kitchen.
I usually work outside but it was too windy today and
I didn't want to risk losing any of the little brake
pieces....
Yes, the phone works.
We had a major blackout here several years ago
and that phone continued to work for another half hour...

That sucks with the wrongly advertised 40 hole rim, upside is you have a really nice spare 40 hole rim. It's great to see the bike upright & almost rideable, looks like a really nice sized frame!
...looks kinda in-between the DL-1 sizes...maybe 23"?

I haven't actually measured but assume it's a 23".

TA 3-pin crankset with a 45t ring. And seatpost is original, chromed steel. Not sure of the diameter but iirc those metric Reynolds 531 seat tubes take a 26.6mm.

There you go tempting me with that light weight roadster project I never got around to. Which reminds me of a question I have. Does anybody make mudguards that look like the old time Bluemels? All the modern ones I see look... well...too modern.

SKS makes one decent almost retro set in varying sizes but only one colour, black. Paint it?

A friend has posted some instructions on how to modify the SKS Longboards to look more like Bluemels Populars. They only come in cream and black, however, unlike the wide variety of colors of the original Bluemels.

Thanks for the tip. Actually, it seems like a fun project. Someday, I'll be back here asking for measurements and a photo of the Popular transfer.

This was part of the order that arrived
the other day.

Not sure where it will end up but there're a couple of Semi Scorchers that
could use an upgrade.

What is a problem, however, is the rear brake reach needed is about 83mm. I'll likely try it with a Weinmann 750 brake and a pair of those offset pads for a bit more reach.
The temporary tire I've put on the back of the Pug mixte is marked 700c x 38 but it measures 35 mm. That's about as big as I need but there's clearance for a few more millimeters of tire, if I wanted that. The Mafac Racers have plenty of reach for the 4 mm difference between the new 700c and the original 27 wheels, but I don't think they would manage a 650. I've read that if I withdraw the shim in the seat tube then I could use a 1-inch seatpost, and as long ones are available in alloy in that size it's something I'm thinking about. I would welcome a fine lugged mixte frame but those are so hard to find. BTW, riding home last night I passed a bike that resembles your white Pug a lot. It had the black lugs on the head tube and the forged dropouts with derailleur hanger but in back they weren't chromed. My mind turned only briefly to bike theft.

I always saw this thread, but never looked. Apparently, with my latest n+1 I've joined your club.

Wanted a beater/station bike with a basket for my girlfriend for her birthday. I have one that's a re-purposed mountain bike that went unclaimed after our co-op's purge of shared storage space a few years ago.

She had seen something she liked at a friend's house, but just missed the opportunity. Thinking nobody would want it, friend told the people in the process of buying the house they could have it. !?!?

Went on Craig's list to find something similar and found what I believe is a 1958 Raleigh Lady Armstrong. It's definitely a '58, as we can see that on the hub. Head badge and some reflectors missing. Seat not original. Still...it's cooler than something I would have gotten at Modells and less likely to be stolen on grocery runs.

Cool bike. Two tips, a '58 may have an SW 3 speed hub which is prone to failure but easily replaced with an AW if it does. The SW hub may work just fine. Regardless of model, put a few drops of lightweight oil in the filler. Also oil the rear brake housing at the back. Water seeps in there into the loop and rusts the cable solid.

^^^^ Love that chain ring.
I have a 1969 23" men's Armstrong, but it has a plain chain ring.
