Welp, looks like the guy who bought my Tommasini from Wheat Ridge Cycles (the one that had gone missing so many years ago) has decided to sell it, and boy, oh boy does he want a sum: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Tomm...item4ac10d3796

Yep, I've been watching that Casati for more than a month now. The starting bid has slowly crept downwards. It would be a nice riding frame, and the starting bid isn't unreasonable. I'm still waiting for him to drop it to $299 starting bid

Rare Tommasini Super Prestige Oria ML25 tubes, crimped Gilco style: Anyone seen one before? Top, seat and down tube are all crimped. A quick bit of online research tells me that Oria ML25 was used for "stellare" models for Dancelli and D'Accordi- so it looks like Tommasini also experimented with this tubing. Makes a change from Columbus SLX....

I've heard of these, yet have not seen a pic until now.
I really like everything about the frameset.
Is the frameset in the United States?
May I ask what your build plans are?

So I bought an old Tomassini and it has some damage to it. Could you all take a look at these pics and tell me what you think? I was told that possibly with some careful filing (to round out the crack and prevent running) it could be salvaged. The damage is inside the seat tube at the weld between the seat and top tubes.

Dave Anderson has been at NAHBS and so has Alex at A-Train.
So, the main guys I would talk to have been busy the last couple of weeks.
I am on spring break next week and will pursue the appraisal on Monday or Tuesday.
The paint on the top tube is bugging me as well. The paint scheme on the Sintesi is totally worth rescuing, but perhaps I should open up to a refinish back at Tommasini.
Additionally, I have been buried refinishing a rudder for a friend's boat for the last week.
I have several rigging mounts/plates to fashion as well, then I'll have time to work on bicycles a bit more.
The boats can pay a lot of bills around here and I sure like the wood and metal refinishing.

One of the pics suggests bulging under the cluster.
Where are you located?
Perhaps there is a builder nearby that could take a look.

Should be able to give a first person assessment.
Such a handsome frame, it's worthy of a look.

"Tommasini has been producing and selling racing bikes since the Second World War."
So says https://www.tommasini.it/eng/mission.php
So has anyone here got a 1940s/50s or even 60s Tommasini?
Do they exist???

I don't own a Tommasini, but it is certainly one of the best italian bike brands that has ever existed. The finish and quality of their steel frames is fantastic.

They also had a couple in their retail shop in Tuscany that I assumed were older Tommasini racing models.
Speaking only German and English in Italy is something I should correct before I return.
Makes "question asking" somewhat challenging.
Where's that Rosetta Stone software anyway?

My Super Prestige, Suntour Superbe Pro groupo.
In 2004 I had the chance to tour the Tommasini factory. Barbara Tommasini (Irio's daughter, and shop manager) gave my wife and me an hour long tour.
And then Irio showed up n the floor and talked to us for quite a while. He could not have been more of a gentleman.
I was an admirer of Tommasini bikes before, but their hospitality made me a fan for life. Top notch bikes, and top notch people.

My 1986 (I believe that's right) Tommasini Racing frame. (Columbus SL) Many miles of USCF racing and triathlons on this bike, then retired for the last 15 years or so. I set it up recently as a single speed as pictured, but now I'm doing a restoration on it, and equipping it with modern Campy 10 speed. Can't see it in the photo, but there is some rust around the seat tube and bottom bracket that's bubbling the paint and many paint chips
The second pic is our team from the 1980's, with the same frame.

Another tommasini with campy 10. If you have any modern bikes in the stable there is a chance you may sell them off after this.

Thanks for the link, I'll check that out. I've had the Tommasini setup for a few weeks now and loving it.
And actually, that is my intent for now, for this to be my primary road bike.
