Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, me too. Pfizer just isn’t making people sick, although, anecdotally, I think people are having some effects with the first dose. LSS’s osteoarthritis flared, for instance.

Nope. But replaced frayed shifter cable already. I find that if you catch the problem early enough, it’s easier to extricate the cable.

Maybe I should get a planetary hub or a gearbox?

Got out on a little ride after taking care of a bunch of runnin' around earlier in the day. Was feelin' okay, but not exactly in world-beater mode. Still, I inadvertently set a new 60sec power mark for the year. I think that, if I actually tried, I'd be able to better it by another 20-30w, at least.

They have more robust immune systems in general, but we spry old people get wicked pissah sick too. The only person I know who didn't get sick with the second dose of Moderna is my 79 yo ex-boss and he was not happy about it.

Gotcha, that's kind of what I'd assumed.

I'm really not looking forward to the second shot and I'm also not thrilled with the fact that the wife and I will be going through it at the same time. If she's miserable, too, who the hell is supposed to pamper me when I'm acting like a baby?!

Speaking of getting poked, my friendly retina specialist treated me to my 7th eye injection this afternoon. He says that if this series of injections doesn’t work, we may have to go to plan B but he didn’t tell me what that is.

Tell your wife to HTFU and take care of you in the manner to which you've become accustomed. SMH

Remember, it's all mitigated by the wonderful fact of getting the damn thing after this terrible year.

Don't let her take acetaminophen. It reduces empathy.

It was about 90 degrees here on Monday, today it's 30 degrees cooler. This morning I set out on the 5 mile climb from home and I passed a guy on an old hardtail near the bottom and he stayed nearby until I stopped to take off a layer. He went by and when I started going again I saw him ahead until the top where he was resting at the end of the pavement when I got there. Turns out he is a year older than I am and he said when he retired some months ago he got tired of sitting around so he started riding bikes.

I asked if he was going the 2 miles to the fire station and he said he tried it once and he fell when he tried to ride through the sandy sections, so he doesn't do that anymore and he was turning around. I suggested he go with me on a 7 mile all dirt descent. He laughed, "No way!"

Maybe if I see him again I can convince him to try a little dirt again. It would be nice to have another geezer to ride up there with on Wednesdays.

Oh, and on the ride today, I saw this little guy taking his plastic shovel out for a walk. I'm thinking that an intervention might be in order, lest we find ourselves with another DougRNS on our hands.

I looked at 3 today. One was awesome. But priced at the top of the market. 220000 for under 1100 sqrft. But just decked out. It went for 230000cash. In one day, heck in 8 hours.

Sounds like science fiction to me. The run down 486 sq ft thing across the street from me has a Zestimate of $415,000. If they fix it up a bit it would probably fetch upwards of $450,000.
