For the last month or so, every time I've done the dawn patrol ride, I could smell campfire smoke right in this vicinity.

Brush fire scorches 30 acres, threatens structures in Irwindale | abc7.com

Wonder if it's related?

You can see their camps in the brush off the 605 near the City Of Hope.

Rode up to the end of the trail above the dam July 4. There was a pumper truck on the SGRT just north of the Visitor Center dousing a small fire.

Point of origin was right where the campfire smoke was originating from

Second fire started today! 7/11

About the same location and time!

Are the "authorities" going to wait till they burn down Duarte or Azusa?

That's were they are... out in that no-man's land by the south-west corner of the 210/605 intersection. Continues north of the 210 and west along the 605.
I don't mind, except when they block the tail with shopping carts.
Apparently they don't know how to work with fire... and that area is full of dead brush and Manzanita ....has a lot of oil in it.
I guess just burn it all out.

The last fire started at the EXACT! location of the last one.
Also a new burn just north of WN Dam.

Anyone know what happened to the café at the end of the river? Boarded up. They always seemed to be doing SRO business. in fact, I never patronized them because it looked like you could never get a table.

The whole trail was clean except for a pile of trash under Florence and one tarp shack at Valley. There's still quite a population hiding in the brush north of SF Dam given the crowd at the luncheon social at the Lario Park parking area.

.
I was told it had something to do with repairs being needed and the owner was arguing with the city as to who was responsible for the costs.

I have commented on the small encampment on the North side of 605 south to the 405 north connector road before. I hadn't been there for some time until yesterday. It seems to be growing. There are several tents under the overpass now. There was even a generator exposed out in the open.
