Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I took some better pictures of my 'Dale. She'll soon be replaced but damn is she a great bike. It had a full 105 groupo until a few months ago when I dusted off an old derailleur in my dads' old tool box,a nd read "Dura-Ace" I damned my dad to hell and but on the new dearilleur, works great. Oh yeah, this is the first time I wrapped my own bars. I think it looks alright. (I'm sorry I didn't take the pictures on her better side!)

P.S: The bike is an '87 Cannondale and she hasn't been cleaned since DECEMBER!!!

I so drempt of buying (ordering from Bloors Cycle, Toronto Catalog) that same bike with Shimano 600. Back in 1987, I would go to bed dreaming of owing that bike one day.

Thanks for bring back a memory, makes me want to go get one again

New Lemond and C-Dale nostalgia

I had that same 1987 blue Cannondale with Shimano 600. Wow that brings back memories.
I still have some of the 600 parts I use on a single speed.

Well, here's my new Lemond:

new one..

My wife's new ride..Yea, she's short so we had to find a decent "small bike". This is the Specialized Allez Jr. Comp. w/105 everything. I actually think it looks nice for a runt bike (hope she don't see this)

Hey! My new ride looks just like yours! I went with Shimano PD-R540s for the pedals. I'm thinking of swapping the saddle for the Alias in white, and using the Avatar for my old Trek. I like the red and white thing... very sharp.

1982 Trek 412

I just posted in the Introductions section, so you can read more there - I just sold the 412 tonight, but wanted to sing her praises and introduce myself in the Road Cycling section. As for riding impressions, it was a sweet introduction to road biking, and I can understand the appeal of classic steel.

I now have a Trek 1200 on order, and that'll be my ride in another week or two. I made the switch primarily because I want as much reliability as I can get for longer rides, and something worth upgrading over time. Not that the old bike wouldn't be great, but it was Trek's entry level bike a quarter century ago, so I can't see putting a lot of money into it. Besides, she went to a good home, and will be a daily commuter now.
