Thunderstorm Rock and Roll

A Thunderstorm rolled right over me while I was riding today. Rock and Roll!

I saw the cells building and headed home. But only got within a few miles of home before the wind hit. Then the rain. All the while thunder was rolling overhead. When the rain drops started to sting couldn't decide whether it was small hail, or big drops. No Pause; Onward!

The tires on this bike have no tread. So guess what happened when I was in a puddle and got a crosswind gust? I moved sideways! Guess I'm getting better because when I hit better traction even though moving sideways at the time I didn't lose it.

It is a weird sensation to be peddling as hard as I can but moving slowly when the wind shifted and I'b be flying; only to have the wind shift again and be, literally, leaning into the wind at an angle to keep from being blown over. Sure didn't help the average speed any.

The shower sure did feel good!! The shoes are on top of the water heater to dry. The bike chain and running gear has been sprayed with WD40 pending a wash a relube. All in all an invigorating experience.

Sounds like a rough time. Good thing there was no lightning popping around you along with the wind, rain and thunder.

Good times! I'm a notorious weather wimp, but do enjoy riding through a summer rainstorm.

What I and the garden would do for a drop of rain.

Probably would not when it came if I was riding but I have been known to go on a ride in the rain just for a bit of fun. Keep it local though and offroad. Gives the bike a wash from that last time I took it out so it has to be cleaned afterwards.
