(The) New Jersey (BB62) taking aim on Philadelphia with a brace of 16 inch gun turrets.

More BB62

And one last BIG artillery piece, a 280mm "Atomic Cannon" now located at Rock Island Arsenal, IL and BITD

Food Found. Mission: Monument

Food found...

The artillery across the Mississippi planted the Civil War in my head.

I would like to see your bike in front of a Civil War Monument.

I realize this is somewhat geographically limited (subgrade, for example, probably would have a hard time as well as the left coasters) so beginning Sunday 1/19, any war monument will be valid.

Ride safely!

Food Mission completed; good choice for next mission.

As a non entry for monuments that would qualify for tomorrow's mission, this is a close up of the plaque that is mounted in front of the pair of guns pointed at Illinois posted several days ago.

Monument to General John Murray Corse and the Battle of Allatoona, October 1864.

This girl's Calvin bike bought new in 2000 or 2001 was my daughter's and she used it to get to and from Heidelberg when we lived in a town about 10 miles away. She no longer wanted it but I kept it because I like the way it looks and I find it is very good for snowy conditions with its easy on-easy off frame, 3 speed coaster brake rear hub and 622-47mm tires which still has the original Nokian city tire on the front wheel and a Marathon on the rear. It just started to snow when I left my house today to take the pictures in the local park.

Very impressive! Next mission?

Interesting how much General Corse moved around in his life in the mid-1800’s. You couldn’t even get a single-speed back then!

Next mission: Bicycle parked near a monument or tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. or other civil rights leader. Street sign bearing his name is OK.

I want to see a named rock but not one that is named “Castle Rock “. There are too many of those. And it needs to be larger than a car at the very least.

How about Magu Rock, on PCH, north of Malibu, featured in a lot of car commercials and TV shows.

Magu Rock looking north from Pacific Coast Highway.

Magu Rock, from behind the bars, looking south.

Next mission?
Anybody got a picture of their bike next to a lizard?

so what's the new mission?

Yeah, I was loaded down with long underwear, jeans, and sweatpants over that and 5 layers on top on Saturday night. It does make sense to have an easy on and off bike..... I like the 3 speed coaster hub though. I'm jealous of that.

My doc says we are made up of a bunch of minerals......
