Pedal adjustment
Trying to adjust pedals on a magna mountain bike.
right now the pedals seem out of alignment

more likely one is installed cross-threaded.they are not adjustable.take the bike back & ask for an exchange.

If it is a new bike return it and ask for a replacement or to have it repaired; it has been incorrectly assembled, and a very basic error at that, which should have been caught. Trying to repair it yourself may void the warranty. You might consider purchasing a bike from another source, there may be other assembly or adjustment issues.

So the pedals are not the issue but the crank arms mounting on the BB axle is the issue, or it seems so from your additional info. Anything else we're missing still (other then those still going down the wrong path of pedal problems). Andy

If it's a square-taper crank, it's been assembled wrong. Remove the non-drive side arm and re-mount it so it is opposite, rather than right-angle to the drive side arm. It's about a 2 minute job if you have the tools.

The assembly has a bolt on each side and a washer with slots is what i will describe as. Is there s special tool to remove the crank?

OP- you need to do a basic google for a cotterless crank attachment to the BB axle and the same for a cottered crank attachment. Both can have miss alignment, both have washers. I suspect you have a cotterless design that might be a tapered square (where the usual miss alignment is in 90* increments) or a splined arm/axle interface (which could be miss mounted by a single spline or more). A cottered design would usually only have about 20-30 degrees of miss alignment. A link to a photo would keep us from miss guiding you. Andy
