Addiction LXXVIII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Correct. I am a pretty good driver. The Saturn also has a plastic body so a minor impact leaves no dents. Not that I have had many.

Hopeful it’s not too pricey but if it is, no biggie. Would prolly get a Honda Fit or Civic if it’s a fatal injury. The car has about 160K and although my goal is 200k I won’t be too bummed if it’s done. It’s no Saturn.

If it's a bent strut it's no big deal and they're probably available aftermarket. Best to replace them both, though. Wheel might be bent, too. Gotta do an alignment.

You might consider getting a beater car for daily driving and only take out the Saturn on special occasions.

Yeah I will wait for them to let me know the damage, so to speak.

Do you ride in the wet? I rarely do. I've worn them out on the mountain bike for sure. Hey, maybe they're worn out on my road bike and I just haven't checked?

Interesting. It was my mother who taught me, and in upstate NY a LOT of women drove sticks.

While I was still working there were plenty of young people at the dealer who couldn't drive stick. Sometimes the mechanics would have to get a car for a customer because the porter couldn't do it. I don't think any of the young women there could drive them.

I used to have a 6 speed toyota. I tried teaching my girl friend now wife how to drive stick in that, and she burnt out the clutch the first day. This was 12 years ago. 2 cars later she still can’t drive stick.

There's hardly any stick cars being made now.

My inner child wants one so bad. Not as bad as I want a quieter house, though. Also it'd just sit in the garage around here; not much fun driving.

I learned to drive stick by telling the pizza place that I could, in order to get the job.

Locally referred to as "gorging out", as I recall.

I have a thing for the scion frs/subaru brz. I just really like the way that car looks. Reminds me of the supra. But it’s only 2 door and with one child plus another one in the future it won’t work. Honda made a 4 door sedan look sexy, and it has a little hatch back thing going. It will prolly be the only car I ever buy new for myself, so that’s what I want to go with.
