UCI wanting hands on gravel

https://www.velonews.com/2020/01/new...-worlds_504107

I see no reason why promotors who are successful with big events here in the USA would even give a darn about some cycling governing body in Europe.

Get a big event that pays well and people are interested that’s well run and scheduled properly and riders will show up. Win win. Don’t let the UCI screw gravel up.

its like BMX. We started it and developed it. We made it famous. Why in the hell do we let the UCI control it.

I think Ted King said he wouldn't race UCI events.

Because they are into anything with two wheels now. They are into members, not sport.

What is the official UCI ball? There are balls used in UCI sports. So grabbing gravel - obviously.

I would think and hope America could slow the spread of the UCI disease in America but that just doesn’t appear to be the case most of the time. I hope gravel world can beat them at their own game.

Americans can just choose to not participate and not play along with the UCI? What's the problem here?

they control such a large piece of the pie you would have to participate if this was your career choice

I hope that changes at some point

UCI will just F it up for sure...I hope they don't do this.

I am sure there are some benefits to having the UCI involved but I think they would not be worth it though.

I think it’s Go Big or Go Home. A very popular race like the Dirty Kanza is going to produce revenue on its own without UCI help. More races that are very very popular like this will help. .
