Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Kind of random that I happened to click on a post with my name mentioned, isn't it? What kind of thoughts? On how I'm a dude magnet? I don't know about that, but I have fun at parties.

Party stories, being magnetic, anything. Just mention a road bike from time to time so your husband and his henchmen won't lock this thread or move it to, gulp, Foo.

I have few theories as to how you did manage to find it.

One is that you regularly scan the road cycling forum because it is so fascinating. No?

Well then how about one of your friends who happens to moderate this thread caught sight and sent you a PM?

Or maybe you had a program written into the new software that alerted you any time your name was mentioned, even if misspelled.

Or maybe you're a witch. A good witch, of course.

None of the above. I just clicked on the title because I thought it sounded like a silly thread. Most of my free time goes to silliness these days.

Hmm, you've just described the vast majority of RC threads. So you're saying this one sounded more silly than usual. I'll take that as a compliment! Wait...

Silliness is a great way to deal with the drab and melancholy that a lot of people are dealing with right now. Works for me, anyway.

I still see that guy around town and he's still a messenger. Things got a bit awkward when he saw that I was taken.

Yes, it sounded more silly than the normal allotted silliness previously existing. Errrr...that last sentence was really silly.

you mean bike messengers are no longer crusty folk on crap bikes, toking a joint at a red light while trackstanding, with a rush package strapped to their back?

Yes it was, and thanks! It's the season to be silly! Or jolly, I forget which.

Are you saying road cycling isn't serious business? Then I should grin and laugh as I'm flying down a hill faster than I can run? I actually do that already.

It's all about ceramic bearings guys. They make you fly.
