Marla Streb in Costa Rica

Hey girls- I'm Marla Streb. I just retired from pro racing (Downhill and Cross country) last month. Somehow I got pregnant again (I'm 43!), so my sponsor, Luna, is just letting me do some marketing for now to bide my time. But from Costa Rica, which doesn't suck!!! Even though I'm 8 months preggo, I'm still riding almost every day, often with my little 2 year old girl on my handlebars. We've also started a biz down here, running mountain bike skills clinics down here in the jungle. I've been down here for 3 years now- it's wild!
check out my mtb skills camps; https://www.strebmountainbikecostarica.com/

Hey Marla!

Welcome to Bike Forums!

It's an honor to have you here with us here, I'm sure there's a lot that we can learn from you. . I bet it's cool having a mtb skills clinic in beautiful Costa Rica, isn't it?

I'd love to see pics if you would.......

Hi Marla from a fellow cyclist in Costa Rica. What part of the country do you live in? We are in the northern zone.

Sure, you can all crush me riding now... will you be nice if I let you all ride on all the plantations?

We're based in Montezuma, on the tip of the Nicoya peninsula (west coast). I was just hacking around in the jungle, and it's pretty wicked in there! That's where one of our camp clinics will be. I'll post a photo as soon as I figure out how...
By the way, I guess it's okay for me to give you my website address now if you're interested
www.strebmountainbikecostarica.com

BTW, anyone that lives down here in costa rica- write me! We should hook up for a ride

Welcome to bikeforums, Marla, big fan here...

I can't wait till we move, 62 days and counting! I'm really excited to think of all the possibilities of Costa Rica mountain biking. Fred, I can only imagine what we could build with that new tractor of yours...

Awesome. I would love to take one or two of your clinics once we are situated down there.

It is a blast...but a tough choice whether you ride to a waterfall, jungle, volcano, beach, animal park, or the local soda for a "batido" (mixed fruit drink).

Okay, can someone coach me how to post a url photo? My brain is full of pregnancy hormones

I'm sure that I'd not be able to keep up with you even at nine months and counting! I look forward to reading your tales of velo adventure. All the best on your next birthing. How many will this next blessing make? — Best ... Lenton58/Lorne

My brother finished La Ruta last year and had a blast. Sounds like a great place to be, ride, and live. I've not yet been to CR, but I love Nicaragua, although I have not cycled there.

Just to finish La Ruta is quite an accomplishment I hear.

This'll be my second (2 girls). A couple months after I had Nicoya, I tried to race La Ruta. Let's just say it didn't go very well! I did well the first day (3rd pro woman), but got mastitis for obvious reasons and couldn't finish the event. Also got a concussion, which sealed the deal. Oh well, it was still an adventure (that I will not repeat)!

Good for you. I'm reading the biography of Sitting Bull — even he took a day off. Nicoya ... what a lovely name.

If you can make angels like that one in the pic, I think that the planet can spare you from racing for a few months
