I used peanut butter for a while, but now I go between Bag Balm and Aquaphor. Sometimes I use a base of Lanacane is some spots.

Even though I have relatively short daily commutes, my slick leather surface Brooks had a considerable effect in reducing the chaffing in my groin area, to the point of making "off saddle" life much more bearable.

I find it useful to get everything adjusted just right before the ride. A poorly located wrinkle (shorts, not me although that doesn't help either) or seam can cause me a problem that will require some cream or medication for many rides to follow.

I use Chamois Butter probably out of habit more than need. Chafing was a problem in the past, which lube seemed to help. Don't honestly know whether I need now or not, but not changing a good thing!

I've not used Chamois Buttr so far this year, but the Saturday Cyclepath ride just hit 57 miles last week and I felt it. I'll be using it for this Saturday's ride, but not for the mid-week 30 milers.

Chamois Buttr- European formula. Has a little menthol or something similar for the "cheap thrill" tingle. If I don't use it, we have issues, and we don't want issues...

Didn't use it for the first 3+ years of riding...but I tried it and I like it. Not for saddle sores, but more between the legs, although I use it on the chamois too.

+1 Assos not only protects against chafing and bacterial infection but also against fungus. This is an advantage over Bag Balm etc. particularly if you ride where it is hot and humid.

I just stick a sheet of 60 grit sandpaper between my skin and shorts.

Here in the philippines, I use 'it' alot. It being Bttr or vaseline. I've found that "Noxema" (SP?) works better. Its been si bad .... well more info than you wish to hear. But its kept me off the bike several times.

I haven't to this point. In October I'm trying my first Century (115 miles actually) so I have been considering different elements of a long ride as in better shorts/bibs and butter. Keep posting group, this old dog needs to learn all the tricks he can.

I must be one of the "dead end" guys..I use an Elina ,super pro from pre 1980 and only have pads 'cause the last tights I bought had em..other than that , nothing else...Bud

Petroleum Jelly, just a small amount, I'd really like to get the "bent rider" fix but it's really and expensive option next to Generic PJ!

I use just a touch of Bag Balm (because it's cheaper and it works) on most rides of 40-100 miles. On the 7-day AIDS/LIfeCycle, I use Chamois Butt'r because they supply it and it's easier to pack the the Bag Balm. I like either.
