Winchester Apple Cross

My recollections from last year:
(You can see most of these features in the cxhairs video: https://www.cxhairs.com/tag/cxhairs/ )

First hairpin after getting off the pavement start has a bit of dip in its center: logjam / crash city if you’re back in the pack.

There is also a tight and down S turn early in the race just after the 1st hairpin that jams people up – I crashed the tape at least once there.

As you move away from the starting area, there is a short steep uphill as shown in the video, which was followed by a hard right. It was wet last year, which made it a bit dodgy if you lost traction. I spun out while trying to turn and climb at the same time and dumped my bike. If it’s reasonably dry this year, this should be much more manageable.

Coming into the “Wall” beware of the large stone pile to your right – you’ll be tempted to ride close to the pile because you need to turn right to face the hill. I almost went down in the pile last year when I tried to cut the corner.

The wooded section definitely has some roots reaching out into the path.

Assuming it’s reasonably dry, any PSI recommendations for Mud2 clinchers?

I'll be there. Doing the C's once again. Thanks for the tips...I'm hoping to get there early enough for at least two preride laps.

I'm not running Mud2s but I plano n 45-50psi in my Mimos. Would like to go lower but afraid the roots will snakebite me.

Mike - the really rooty bits are in slower sections, so I wouldn't add extra air for them.

Not sure how much rain they got. Looks cool and overcast today and tomorrow, so might still be wet. And scattered showers on Sunday.

We're getting a new dog tomorrow morning, so I'll probably be missing this race
