Winter series RR on Sunday, high likelyhood of soggy bibs and road grime.

@caloso ... what time does the Thanksgiving ride kick out of La Bou/Bella Bru/Arden? I always seem to forget.

Yup. 8am from Bella Bru. Although I am considering parking the car somewhere in Rancho and picking up the group on White Rock. I'm bringing my son and this will lop off a few miles, and frankly some of the sketchier miles at that.

I assume you can park in one of the many business parks along white rock or near the crit course. I'm guessing crossing Folsom w/some 200 people is quite a chore.

In the past, I've picked up the ride at the canal/White Rock, but figured I'd put a little effort in to make the start.

Anyone know what happened on Canada road today around 10:30? Looks like rider was down, with fire department attending him, and CHP and ambulance on the way. Big group of Alto Velo was standing near.
On side note. Coming back saw they were enforcing a stop sign near Woodside. The satisfaction just jumping on dirt path to bypass it and smiling at sheriff moto cop as he was glaring.

Spectrum carnage. Group moved left to avoid some cones in the bike lane, wheels crossed. PV rider with the cateye helmet - the older guy who I see all the time but don't know his name - took the worst of it. Cut on his forehead, probably a bad concussion, and god knows what else. At least ~8 guys down.
that sucks though.

I had a teammate taken out in the CalAggie 4's race by a junior. Seems like the probability of getting caught in a crash is limitless.

There was one sketchball in the 35+ 123 race. His teammate was quite apologetic to many riders post race. New kits, not sure what team they are.

that backside left-right-left sway of the road gets 'em every year. Usually on the first lap.

Yikes, I think I exchanged pleasantries with him at the start parking lot. I hope he is OK long term.
I got a flat two blocks in from the start, looks like it saved me.

Just noticed that the Chico Stage Race has moved the Paskenta RR to the old start/finish. I think I prefer that location. It's now a few miles after the gravel (after the roller and descent).

that means the gravel section will actually have some meaning. the 'new' location had the gravel way too far from the finish for it to eliminate any real players.

Will be my first time doing Chico STR. Last time I raced in gravel was during collegiate days.
I still remember on last lap, entering gravel section, me saying "Here we go", then promptly loosing the front in deep section.
