Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fun fact: if you get exposed to poison ivy and within a few hours scrub really well with good soap, you remove the oil and should avoid getting the rash.

Once was driving in WI with plant manager from one of our production facilities on the "West" bank across from New Orleans. Saw a road kill deer to which he said " You would never see that in Louisiana" . To which I replied, " oh they maintain the road better down in New Orleans". He replied back no, it would be picked up and ate

I think he was serious.

On a side note, when I travelled to that plant the meal expense reports were not lacking. Might be why I had to loose 20 pounds after moved on to a new job.

Might be different for bears, but based upon experience I do not recommend weeding and especially not eating it. Broke out all over when it got mixed in with the Rhubarb.....don't ask.

Also, sensitivity to poison ivy can be strange. One can not be affected, but then upon continued exposure become susceptible. I use to not be affected, after the Rhubarb incident, if I just look at the stuff it seems like I break out.

It's somewhat disturbing that you know all this.

My money is on @rjones28 if he had a mowing competition against @DougRNS.

I wash afterwards, but in some cases it may have been too long ( 3+ hours) after exposure. Weirdly, I only seem to get it in my lower calf/ankle region, even though I'm sure I get splattered elsewhere.

Even the D3 is 19.5mm according to their website. The XXX is its own thing, and they make you pay for it.

Full disclosure: I don't really have a sinking slider, just a sinking feeling that I'll never see the Mets win another World Series in my lifetime.

1. If they would only make Dermostyx® available in the US, that would be a lovely protectant against poison ivy. The stuff was developed to protect against chem warfare agents, for those who ride in bad neighborhoods.

2. There was a guy in my medical school class who ate rode kill all winter, or so they said.

It actually makes some sense. The state has one of the highest rates of deer-vehicle collisions in the country, if not the highest. (Have spent a lot of time riding there. There are a lot of deer.) In some cases, there is no practical difference between one that has been shot and one that has been hit by a car. I am driving my pickup, see someone hit and kill a deer (or hit it myself), pick it up, take it home and dress it. What's the issue? It also saves the state money because crews don't have to collect dispose of the carcass.
