There is probably something on the ticket that says policies can change and you are responsible to pay for any changes.

and just for some reference to other airlines that have reasonable prices, so this isnt all doom and gloom

Air Transat, about 30 or 35 cad.
AeroMexico, about 30 U.S
Air Canada, about 50 bucks cad.
