I just scrapped 2 trips on jetBlue because they recently changed their bike policy limiting maximum size to 80 inches. So my Crateworks, at 87 inches, is a no go on jetBlue. I think Trico and Thule are about the same. A great company to fly, loved the $50 bike charge, and never abuse of the bike box, but had to find other options. What's quoted above seems pretty standard for domestic travel American, Delta and United, only the sizes vary a bit, but that should not be an issue to most of the commercially available cases.

and just for some reference to other airlines that have reasonable prices, so this isnt all doom and gloom
Air Transat, about 30 or 35 cad.
AeroMexico, about 30 U.S
Air Canada, about 50 bucks cad.
