Any chance you could scan/post the Ironman (p.28) and Trek (p.137) articles?

Thanks again for posting this, plus Mr. Kelly's posting of the "Rough Stuff" article yesterday at https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...ch-1984-a.html
One observation: reading letters to the editor in a full range of cycling publications over the past 40+ years, the confidence and certainty of many people's point of view seems to show that the "my way is right and your way is wrong!" attitude long pre-existed the pathologies of electronic social media, even going back to Usenet. But I'm sure Mr. Schubert was happy to test anything he could get paid forbreaking writing about. And this is prior to the 1990s & beyond era of "Buycycling" where the reviewers seemed unable to say anything less than rhapsodic about almost any tested product.
Plus the 7-11 ad reminded me all those chili dogs and Slurpees I consumed during my rides in the early 80s were going to a good cause.

I just uploaded the Trek article as a Frames and Framebuilding post: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...l#post23201926
I must have missed it earlier.

Gotta kick out of the Murray ad, the racer on the right, Brett Emery is the owner of two bike shops close to me. Bought all of my kids bikes from Emery’s cycles, nine total, and when my then 50 year old mother, really got into cycling, he sold her a high end Trek, when none of the other shop owners, would take her seriously. My wife still rides that, well traveled, early carbon Trek.
