Pinarello Treviso in Oklahoma
Seller is asking $500 in Tulsa, which is a soft market for vintage. Seems very likely a repaint (one I definitely don't love) of a late 80's model and perhaps a complete set of early 90's Athena? I'd love a quality project for the spring, but hate to start off in a big hole on one. I'd love to hear some thoughts before I reach out to the seller.

Nice bike but I would pass as said the home done airbrush paint is just bad and just doesn't go with the components.

I’d buy it. I had one back in the day, originally fitted with period Campy SR components. It was a great-riding bike, and I put a lot of miles in it until it was stolen. I replaced it with an SLX model, but the new bike didn’t have the same magic.

Assuming it was not a crash that generated the rattle can paint job it is a nice groupset, maybe Mavic wheels, and having one that is straight it is sweet ride.

If you could care less about the paint, $500 is a good deal on a well-equipped Pinarello. For me, I’d have to budget for a respray going into this project. I’d feel better about it at $400 and would be elated at $350.

$500, I would pass. I think $500 with good original paint is steep. As pictured I think $200 is more in line with a Craigslist add price for the Treviso

I would agree considering how nice these are the original paint was not great. Compared to the the top end Japan bikes, Raliegh USA and Schwinn stuff the paint kinda sucked on theses.

Went to see the bike, but not before going down the rabbit hole of identifying Pinarello frames. In that era, the late 80's or so, they made all their frames very, very similar in appearance with differences in tubing and in barely adjered transfers. So, before going, I had a short list of things to look at to see if this was (a) a Treviso in SL or (b) a Cadore in Cromor. There are no ridges in the steerer tube that I could identify, though I've never looked at them in real life before. The seller had listed it as a 57, but that must have been based on eyeballing it because I got 55 c-c on the seat tube and 54 c-c on the top. Measured to the top of the seat tube, it was 56, and that was another thing that failed to demonstrate that it was a Treviso - in that time, the Treviso was available in 1 cm increments and the Cadore in 2 cm increments with even numbers. Finally, the seller had removed and sold the Mavic wheels because he didn't think anyone would want tubulars.
In the end, it's probably a fine enough Cromor frame with nice Athena parts, but too small for me to be happy on and certainly not worth much to start with when it needs a lot of work. Thanks for the feedback, though.
