Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Keep your sub 20lb bikes

i'm going to work to crush on my 20lb lame ass trek so that it makes the dude i drop on the hills riding a cervelo SLC-SL feel that much worse about his life, most excellent.

I hate to break it to you, but the guy on the cervelo doesn't care. Unless it's a race. In which case, what you're riding will be irrelevant to his life feelings.

Also, while we are here should bikers wear helmets, what's the best way to clean a chain, whoa better Armstrong or Lamond, and should I get carbon cages?

Having recently won a race on a heavier bike, not one competitor who shook my hand in congratulations said anything about my bike.

Deep inside, it was worth a giggle though. Still is. But the other guys just don't care.
