Good recovery drink?
I typically down a glass of chocolate milk or a Coke after longer rides, but I'm wondering if it's worth getting something like Hammer Recoverite. Or maybe I'm on the wrong track altogether. Any thoughts about recovering from a ride?

For the money, chocolate milk works the best. A lot of nutritionists will tell you to quit wasting money on fancy expensive drinks and stop at the dairy isle.

I use Hammer Recoverite milk shake with fruit. I have been happy with it. However lot of folks like the chocolate milk too.

I've gotten into this stuff lately, but it's been on special at the local Wegmans.

I bought a couple of these (https://www.carnationbreakfastessenti...c/Default.aspx) on sale and a bunch of protein powder. I drink that immediately after a workout.

I just recently started using Visalis Bodybyvi shake mix as my pre and post ride drink. It's hands and knees better for recovery (for me) than just milk alone.

I check the ingredients closely. Vegetable drinks like V8 have a lot of potassium and other electrolytes, as well as some calories and substance. I drink them plain or mix them with fruit juice or soy milk. Not much for regular milk, or I'd give that a nod as well.

Fitness scientists agree: chocolate milk. After a particularly grueling ride, I will throw in some whey protein with mine

After a hot desert ride, squeeze a couple of lemons into a glass, add a little sugar, a pinch of salt, some ice and water. Or some tea and honey on a cold day. I'll eat a handful of nuts too for the protein. Good meals of whole grain and protein before and after. No supplements. Real food, good stuff.

I like the Bolthouse stuff pre-ride or pre-gym, then regular chocolate milk after.
